Character Information
Name/Alias: Hideyoshi "Hide" Nagachika
Fandom: Tokyo Ghoul
Canonpoint: During the Anteiku Raid
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Physical Description: Here. A young man of average height with messy blond hair and brown eyes. He's almost always wearing bright colors that are only outshined by his vibrant personality. His hair is a little bit longer than it is in the picture, better pictured here, and is naturally blond, but a little dark at the base, sort of like a sunflower.
History: Hideyoshi's character wiki which is pretty detailed.
Personality: Ever since Hideyoshi Nagachika (Hide) was a child, he's always been the goofy kid with a smile on his face. Always cracking jokes, always friendly, always pulling his friends along at his pace. He's the kind of guy that it's hard not to be in a good mood with. He's always watching out for people around him, and supports them completely. And above all, Hide is the kind of person that always gives you the benefit of the doubt, even if you're a ghoul, or someone he's supposed to hate above all else. In summary, he's very kind, very loyal, and very silly. However, if we were to stop there, we wouldn't have even half of who he is. Let's get started, shall we?
First of all, despite his bright colors and occasionally moronic personality, Hide is far more perceptive than he lets on. He's almost never not keeping an eye out for everything that's going on around him, and can figure things out in a very Sherlock-like manner. He just loves solving mysteries. And it's not just a hobby, he's really good at it. Even when he was just meeting Kaneki Ken, his current best friend, he could tell that he was a lonely kid, and he took care of him constantly since then. Despite Kaneki being the kind of boy who kept everything to himself, Hide was always able to tell when there was a change in his demeanor of mood, and would go out of his way to fix it. However, that's not the only place where his intuition comes into play. For instance, he was able to tell that Nishio Nishiki was a dangerous person even though he had no idea that he was a ghoul at the time. And most importantly, when Kaneki became a half ghoul and tried to keep it from Hide, he knew what was up almost immediately. It didn't take him long at all to find out the absolute truth.
Hide is often loud and obtrusive when it comes to showing his affections and just having fun, but he knows when to keep his head low. One wouldn't guess how good he is at being in the right place at the right time, and using his friendly personality to his advantage. No one expects the doofy guy with a box of donuts to be listening. For this reason, he always knows far more than anyone expects of him, but he usually keeps it to himself unless it's crucial for them to know. The only time he ever sent the CCG information on ghouls is when he thought that it would help Kaneki, who was missing at the time. And the only reason he ever joined the CCG after that was so that wasn't so much so he could help them, but more or less find Kaneki Ken. However, even though he likes to keep it to himself, he's not one to lie about the facts when someone confronts him with it. He's better at keeping quiet than he is at lying.
Almost everything Hide does is for his best friend, Kaneki. He'll drop everything at any time in order to help him out, as seen during the early parts of the story. As stated earlier, they've known each other since they were children, and he's been taking care of him since then. If someone were being mean to the shy and nonconfrontational Kaneki, he'd be the person to make them leave him alone. He's ridiculously stubborn when it comes to helping him, even. During the fight between Kaneki and Nishio, even though Hide was badly injured and almost completely unconscious, he still reached out to try and save his childhood friend. And that's just the kind of guy he is throughout the entire story. He dives in headfirst to join the CCG and to track him down just so that he could see him again and bring him home. And even when he finally found him, badly injured and going crazy, he was determined to help him. Even if it meant his own life would be put in danger for it.
Of course Kaneki isn't the only person he cares about. He may be stubbornly loyal to his best friend to a fault, but he's shown making friends with just about everyone. He likes to low-key flirt with Touka Kirashima, for instance, and talks to her sometimes when he meets her. He's always excited to see Kaneki meeting new people, even if he feels a little lonely on occasion when it happens, so he helps her out when he sees that she's getting closer to his friend. When he joined the CCG as an assistant, he made fast friends with the quiet Seidou Takizawa, and was often seen eating lunch with him. He has a habit of reaching out to people who seem lonely and being friends with them, because that's just who he is. And he's shown reaching out like this on multiple occasions throughout his life.
In summary, Hide is just a friendly, goofy guy who's often too kind and selfless for his own good. He's a true friend, loyal and devoted to those he cares for. And even though he often plays the dumb, friendly college kid, he's actually ridiculously smart and observant. He loves to hang out and eat food with friends, flirt with girls, and solve mysteries. He puts others' lives above his own, he reaches out to everyone whether they're human or "monster", and even though he hates scary situations, he'll dive in if it means helping the people he cares for the most.
Abilities: Other than being weirdly perceptive for a normal human being, he's not outstandingly athletic or has any other sorts of powers to speak of. He's definitely all wit and smiles.

Yo, Kaneki! It's been a while, man. Way too long, actually! Haven't I told you that you shouldn't just leave me alone like this? I get lonely super easily, you know!
Well, you've definitely failed Asian History by now, man, but... You'll sign up for more classes soon, right? Let's take another class together! I bet there'll be a lot of cute girls this term too.
What have you been reading lately? You know, I saw that author you like! She's actually really cute! I got an autograph for you, so you owe me! Get me some lunch later, okay?! I'll hold you to it!
...
Hey, Kaneki... Do you remember when we met? You were always alone, reading one of your weird books. You know, nothing has really changed! But... I'm not where you are right now. So you have to make sure to stand up to people if they're mean to you, okay? Make sure to treat your friends nicely. They all really love you.
I miss you, man.
Exposition/Introspection: [First night in Inugami, granted that Sasaki Haise and a few others get in.]
"High school again, huh... I thought I'd die before I had to go back."
There wasn't really anyone to talk to. Hideyoshi was just sitting in the corner of his classroom, trying to pretend that the wall made a good pillow. The day had been long and exhausting; both physically and emotionally. And it wasn't the kind of day he ever wanted to repeat. He'd had several nightmares about winding up back in high school before, but this was definitely ridiculous. He sort of hoped the nightmare would end soon. And then none of this would have to be real.
From the blood on the windows to the blood on the walls, to the gibberish speaking students, this wasn't a normal school. It was nothing that he had ever experienced before, and he wasn't sure that it was something anyone was supposed to experience. It was like a horror movie. And God, he hated those. Hide didn't like scary things, or scary situations. And yet...here he was.
But that wasn't really the exhausting part. No, if he had to pick the most stressful moment today, or possibly even the most stressful moment in his life... It would have to be the moment that he finally found his best friend, Kaneki, after six months of searching, only to find that he had been completely forgotten. It was confusing, and it hurt. But he doesn't think it hurt him even half as much as it hurt Kaneki-- Or well, Sasaki Haise. So what is he supposed to say? How does he confront him tomorrow? Hide figures he'll just greet him like normally. It's still Kaneki after all. But it's a little awkward.
And it's not just Sasaki. It's the other people who are apparently here too. There are people he's only seen at Anteiku-- ghouls, he's pretty sure-- as well as guys from the CCG. There's nothing about that that isn't high-stress. Why were they brought here? Was there some sort of point to it? Did he have a role here? Hideyoshi couldn't be sure. None of the pieces were really coming together, and he wasn't used to that. Everything here in Inugami was weird, distorted, and kinda scary.
Hide slid down the wall until he was laying on his back with his arms crossed behind his head. The night was eerily quiet, and honestly? He was terrified. He really didn't deal well with this stuff. Despite that, his eyes were already growing heavy. He didn't know what the next day would hold for him at all, or if he'd even make it to the morning. What if this school was filled with ghosts? Well, he hoped they were all friendly ghosts at least. He wasn't ready to die just yet.
"Good night," Hideyoshi whispered to no one at all, consciousness fading swiftly. Yes, tomorrow would be another day. He'll keep his head up. He'd made it this far, right? Everything will be fine.
